Number of registered acts about death in Lithuania.
In 2019, 38.3 thousand acts about death were registered in Lithuania. Compared to 2018 the number of deaths decreased by 1,293 cases, or by 3.3 percent. The number of deaths per thousand people living in Lithuania increased from 13.3 thousand cases in 2009 to 13.7 thousand cases in 2019. In 2019, 77.1% of all deaths were aged 65 years and older. The number of deaths between the ages of 15 and 64 was 22.6%.

According to the Lithuanian Health Information Center, in 2019 the majority of deaths, namely 82.3%, are associated with three causes: diseases of the circulatory system, malignant tumors and external causes. 54.6% died due to the problems with the blood circulation, 21.1% died due to the malignant tumors, and 6.6% died from external causes. 2,400 acts about death from external causes were registered in 2019 (6.6%), which is 223 acts (8.5%) less than in 2018. The external causes of death: 658 people committed suicide, 432 people died from falls, 214 people died in road accidents, 117 people died from frostbite, 159 people died from alcohol poisoning, 137 people drowned, 683 people died from other reasons.
