Certificate of Birth in Bulgaria contains the following information:
1. Place and date of birth;
2. Place of the Certificate issue;
3. Number of entry and date of issue;
4. Series and number of form;
5. Surname, first name and patronymic of the newborn;
6. Sex and nationality of the newborn;
7. Identification number of the newborn, which is assigned immediately upon birth in Bulgaria (only for the citizens of Bulgaria);
8. Data on parents: names, dates of birth, nationality, identification numbers;
9. Name and surname of the official, signed the document;
10. Seal of the registry office. If Certificate of Birth in Bulgaria is prepared repeatedly, it will contain inscription “Duplicate” in the right top corner.
The original document, issued only once, bears inscription “Original”. The duplicate and the original of the document have equal legal force. Original of Certificate of Birth in Bulgaria is issued immediately upon the birth of a child.
Useful information:
If citizens of Bulgaria have a child born abroad, parents are obliged within six months upon registration of Birth Certificate by the foreign body, to provide this Certificate to Bulgarian diplomatic or consular representation in the relevant country with an indication of their permanent address in the Republic of Bulgaria. If the Birth Certificate is issued in the country, which is the Hague Convention Signatory, the Certificate should be apostilled and translated into Bulgarian. If the Birth Certificate is issued in the country, which is not the Hague Convention Signatory, the Certificate should be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country. If between the country, issued the Birth Certificate, and the Republic of Bulgaria there is a contract of legal assistance in civil affairs, in such instance it will be sufficient to translate the Certificate into Bulgarian. Certificate of Birth Abroad may also be registered based on multilingual certificate (extract) of birth. Multilingual extracts of birth are issued by civil registry bodies based on Convention on the issue of multilingual certificates (extracts) from civil status records, to which the Republic of Bulgaria joined in 2013. These multilingual Birth Certificates are recognized and have direct effect in the territory of Bulgaria without necessity of legalization and other formalities.
